The bisento has a long, curved blade on one end and a spear-like point on the other. Whitebeard's bisento is unique in that it has a cross-shaped guard and a crescent moon-shaped blade. The weapon is incredibly powerful, capable of creating shockwaves with each swing that can cause earthquakes and tsunamis. It is said that Whitebeard acquired the weapon during his travels as a pirate, although the exact details of how he obtained it are unknown. However, it is known that Whitebeard used the bisento for many years and it became a symbol of his strength and authority as one of the Four Emperors of the Sea.
