May 30, 2019 - Description This is a drawing of the character Shao Kahn, the evil conqueror and emperor of Outworld, from the popular video game franchise, Mortal Kombat. This image features the upper body of the character Shao Kahn from the video game, Mortal Kombat 11. He is depicted dawning his default armor from the game, as well as his signature Wrath Hammer, his weapon of choice. The words, "YOU SUCK!" underneath him are a callback to his classic taunt voice lines used throughout the Mortal Kombat series. Shao Kahn has always been one of my favorite characters throughout the Mortal Kombat franchise, and i wanted to acurately depict his Highness in all his grandeur. Medium: The actual line work of this piece was done first in graphite and then in black Micron. I used Copic Sketch Markers to lay down base colors for Shao Kahn, and for smooth blending. I then used Prismacolor Colored Pencils for finer detailing as well as layering colors on top of base colors. The drop shadow of Shao Kahn as well as the green splotchy background effect, white outline, and lettering, were all done digitally using the art program Krita, to add a graphic pop to the piece.
