She possesses the Crest of Light. Dawn gets her last name from the character of the same name in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The creator's decision to have Dawn possess the Crest of Light is influenced by Kari from the Digimon anime. Kari possessed the crest in that series, and like Dawn, she's most associated with the color pink
